5 /5 Dan Blake: Dawson Gym was part of the old Okanogan High School campus that was preserved when the "new" school was built and the old building torn down back in the 1980s I have always thought Dawson was a unique design and a fun place.

The Club - Total Balance Fitness - Newport

Ananda Love: We’ve been paying for this gym for over a year. We do like it. I want to say though that I’ve now more then once had the older owner? Make comments about not wanting people to use the private showers upstairs. Essentially they had a bad design and created 2 private bathrooms upstairs with showers and then they have a private salon inside that sometimes clients can’t use the bathroom because people are showering. So then they make comments to gym go-ers about not using the upstairs showers and I’m highly confused by it. Why would you make private bathrooms and then be upset people are using them? I didn’t design the gym. We pay almost $90 a month to use the gym and I don’t want to be made to feel guilty about using the private bathrooms. Maybe don’t make comments to your members when they have nothing to do with your gym design.

George Lopez: Haven’t been to the gym in awhile but decided to try some gyms in the area but still ended up going to LA fitness. They’re always keeping things clean and have a sauna. Staff has been very helpful. Manpal and Kane always make it a great experience. Friendly and easy to talk to if I have any questions. Kane provided great input on my goals during the complimentary training session. This gym is also very pet friendly. I take my service dog Moose there with me and they are always very welcoming to him.

Rachel King: I have been going to this Y for years. I joined because I wanted to learn how to swim as an adult, and the U.S. Masters Swimming program has a long partnership with this location. Soon, I found myself swimming 3x per week, mostly due to the expert coaching I received from the Masterss coaches here. The experience has changed my life: my health, my abilities, my social circle, and my confidence have all deeply improved. New leadership seeks to sever the partnership between the Masters swim team and the Y. Instead of listening to the cries of the community, the Y is in the process of replacing the current Masters team with a new internal program for adult swimmers. By running the program in house, they remove the voice of Tacomas most dedicated swimmers. No more team swim meets, social events, open water swims, organized travel opportunities -- just another internal program with average instructors, offered at a lower frequency with less opportune times. What a tremendous shame. According to the YMCAs professed mission, "The Y is dedicated to giving people of all ages, backgrounds and walks of life the opportunity to reach their full potential with dignity." Reaching my full swimming potential required my whole self. It meant connection and community. The hubris it takes to dismantle a thriving partnership is wild. I hope leadership listens and changes its mind.

Tarah Smith: Ive been going here since May 25, so about 3 months now. The whole team is great. I choose to sign up with Byron for personal training, and he is phenomenal. I only see him twice a month, however each session he gives me a new workout plan to follow. This keeps me motivated and excited for the new programs each week. His laugh is magnetic and he is always in a great mood. Since joining him I have seen substantial progress in my strength training despite the short time frame. Additionally my 4 year old son loves the daycare. He is just as excited to go to the gym as I am each day, which as a single mom is an amazing plus. The staff all around is very friendly, helpful, and caring. I would highly recommend this gym.

Jaeylin Severino: I was almost 250 lbs. I had plateaued and was ready to give up on my weight journey. After getting married I’d gained over 60 lbs and couldn’t drop it. I ran into Danny while I was on a walk and he took me in and showed me around.. I was anxious because I’m used to commercial gyms and I thought he’d be pushy but he wasn’t. I did some training with him and he taught me new methods and showed me how to workout smarter, not harder. He was affirming, funny and flexible. In just 3 months he helped me drop 15 lbs when I hadn’t been able to lose more than a pound just to gain it back before I’d met him. The gym is awesome, lots of equipment and membership is affordable. Even his coaching sessions are competitively priced. I ended up going to college and got a free ymca membership, but I still use Danny’s coaching techniques on myself and am building muscle and losing fat extremely quickly. And my confidence is thru the roof. Go see this guy, he’s magic.
