    Joye Edwards: John Scully was unable to deliver a professional experience. My interaction with him demonstrated that his follow up, communication and integrity skills are lacking. After I registered my business with the state, I received emails from a variety of vendors looking to help new businesses (bookkeepers, marketing consultants, insurance brokers, etc.). John Scully was one of those vendors, his business proactively emailed me soliciting his services. I was seeking a quote on a surety bond, and was in communication with him between 3/1 and 4/15. Doing business with John required me to pursue him and follow up with him repeatedly…seriously, not once or twice….on at least 7 occasions. Each time he told me he was working on it. Why did I not dump him? He had delivered a limited liability policy that I was also pursuing. I wanted the amount for both the insurance and bond before making a decision for my business. My intention was to give him the latitude to win all my business, not just half. On 3/27, I suggested an off-ramp and told him I understood if he was not able to provide a bond but if he could explain why we could settle this matter. He insisted a response was imminent but I never heard back from him after that. The last time I followed up was on 4/16, he finally told me he was unable to provide a quote for a surety bond. He was dishonest in that he said he communicated this….but when asked, he was not able to produce a copy of any message closing the loop on the outstanding quote. After some persistence, he finally admitted he never followed up. John’s response was “You can be upset that the email didnt get sent, but those things happen occasionally”. Really? Given the patience I brought to this situation, his reply was highly unprofessional and unapologetic response. Although it is true that mistakes happen, it doesn’t explain the six weeks it took him to deliver a disposition or the….gaslighting or white lies. His performance speaks to a lack of experience with insurance, or a lack of care for me as a customer….or both. The only reasons I can think that he treated me this way is my business wasn’t lucrative enough for him to care or treat me like a valued customer, he isn’t concerned about really helping small business owners get started or is just lacking in professionalism and people skills. Whatever the root cause of my experience, my recommendation is - if you must engage Scully Insurance Solutions do so with very low expectations.

    Josh Forrest: I have been a Heritage Insurance customer for more than 10 years now. Initially, I was impressed. Very responsive, super supportive and always wanting to assist. Most importantly, they always called back. Over the past couple of years however, the team has grown incredibly unresponsive. They direct you to Progressive for things that Progressive directs you to your broker for. Vanessa Cornish has been incredibly unhelpful. When removing a ex-partner from my account, she made a difficult situation even worse, constantly escalating, expressing hostility and attitude when none was needed. It was so bad, that Progressive was even assisting me in attempting to migrate to a new agent. Subsequently, I have been trying to reach them for the past 6 months to make changes to my policy. I have left multiple messages with different staff members and have sent several emails with no reply. I have since found a new broker, and still have not heard from them. I strongly suggest you vet other brokers before going here. They used to be great, but unfortunately, lack integrity.
