Seattle Athletic Club - Seattle Nick Graff: As someone who just joined SAC a few months ago, I need to push back on reviews suggesting the contract is deceptive or manipulative. The contract is easy to understand, and we had ample time to ask multiple clarifying questions in person while signing up. There is no deception or manipulation at any stage, so please take the time to read the contract and ask questions before signing anything. Although I dont love every single aspect of the contract, just imagine how high their expenses are in Pike Place Market. This is a local, small business, not a massive conglomerate. If you dont like the contract, dont sign.
With that said, I love this gym! There are so many pathways to better health, classes, squash, an excellent selection of free weights and weight machines, and lots of choices for cardio including unique ones like a rope trainer, a tread wall, and multiple treadmills and ellipticals. The saline pool is amazing, always at the perfect temp, and only 4.5 feet deep so most people will find it easy to stand if you need a break or feel uncertain about swimming. The locker rooms have saunas, steam rooms, and hot tubs, and they even have massage therapists and trainers on site.
They do a lot of maintenance and they are always improving their offerings. Its clear that they truly care. Its also quite a large gym, very impressive given the location, so there is usually plenty of space. Staff are friendly and helpful, and other attendees are friendly too. It feels like a nice safe space with a diverse community of regular people. Its the best gym Ive ever been a member of. I also really like that they have a whole art gallery and participate in the local art community. SAC is a positive force in the community and its really worth considering if you are looking for an unpretentious gym.
