1 /5 A E Lopez: I am canceling my membership and never going back. I joined the gym in Jan of 2025. On Feb , I had a devastating house fire and lost everything. I called the gym, explained the situation and asked to cancel my membership. They gym suggested suspending the membership and I chose to suspend until May. Within 3 or 4 days, I began getting recorded calls citing my payment was missed. Confused I called they gym and they didnt know why I was getting these calls. About a week later a person left a message stating because my payment Jan 20th (I dont remember the exact date) was before the fire they wanted there $28 (rounding up). I have been a bit buzy with insurance, dealing with a difficult departure from the residence, and balancing tight money from being on a fixed income. My days consist of non stop phone calls, emails and appointments to keep myself off the street. So no I didnt call them right back. My fire happened late Feb 1 and went way into the morning of Feb 2. The clean up for the fire site wasnt done until Feb 9th. Very few monthly bills were paid on time and every single creditor waived fees, showed empathy, and went out of thier way to help me. Kia Ora? Yeah they turned me into collections who now leaving recording on my phone several times a day. It hadnt been 3 weeks since a fire and you turned me into collections? You could have wait until the smoke cleared (literally) for your miniscule payment. Now that things have settle down, I will pay the money and I wont go back. Your lack of empathy for a new member who had a tradgey over less than $30 says a great deal on how you handle you business. I would rather pay $10 more for a gym with less amenities. Besides you allow the people at the pool to be incredibly rude.
