3 /5 Mercedes Kim: I really wanted to like this place because, as someone raised in Florida, I had a favorite Irish restaurant. ODonnells just pales in comparison.
We ordered snacking bacon, and it was just 3 thin strips of basic bacon with one strip having multiple different temperatures. It didnt feel fresh...I had hoped for bacon cooked to order.
Our entrees also came super fast. I ordered the chicken pot pie, and unfortunately, the temperature varied depending on what part of the pie I tried. It seemed as if the pot pie was reheated in a microwave, oven, or something, and it was not reheated well.
Our server was also lackluster. She didnt check in with us about how our food was, or we wouldve told her about the pot pie issue. We waited and waited, and it wasnt until after my husband had already finished his entire entire that the server came back. There was also a miscommunication or something because I wanted a replacement pot pie, but after I said that was what I wanted, she just took the pot pie off our bill and never brought me a replacement. She didnt even ask if I were sure I didnt want anything else because then I wouldve clarified.
The espresso martini was fantastic, though I guess Im not too surprised because theres a huge variety of alcohol here. I wouldve been shocked if the cocktails were bad.
My husband ordered the plate with corned beef cabbage, and colcannon. His entree was at a solid temp, and he said it was good. I tried his colcannon and liked it.
We ordered dessert since I still wanted to eat something. My husband got the bread pudding, which was great. I got the creme brulee, which was just okay. I didnt care for the sugar cookie on top, and the dessert overall tasted a bit too sweet.
I strongly suspect a lot of food here is not made to order, and that clearly hurts the quality of the food. I also think the server we had needs a bit more training in timing, checking in, and communication.
I doubt well come back. I dont think the owners or whoever would change anything based on my or anyone elses review.
But, if you want quality Irish food, look elsewhere. It isnt here.
