2 /5 Clint Escandell: I’ve been craving a chicken pot pie lately but unfortunately, most chicken pot pies include the one food ingredient I hate more than anything else in the world… peas.
So I found a restaurant whose description included all the vegetables in their pot pie, which did not include peas (exhibit A). Tim’s Kitchen. When I ordered it, I made sure to include “PLEASE NO PEAS!” in the notes just in case (exhibit B ). I even included a smiley face because it’s the day after Christmas and I’m not a total monster. When I pick up the food and take it back to work, I find AN OVERABUNDANCE OF PEAS (exhibit C). So I drive back to the restaurant because they don’t have a phone number listed on Google Maps, and the phone number on their website goes to voicemail.
I get there to be told that they can’t make it without peas, and that they would’ve contacted me but couldn’t find any way to reach me. To which I had to refer them back to Exhibit B, the receipt, with my name, phone number and email listed on it. Then the hostess, Mandi, who is an absolute sweetheart, confesses she’s just the only one working the front of house (during a busy Day After Christmas/Friday lunch rush) and doesn’t know how to give me a refund and had to give me her personal cellphone number for me to call back later.
Unfortunately I was on a 30 min lunch break so I didn’t have time to wait for a new dish or anything. Thank god I ordered an appetizer (fried green tomatoes, which is the only reason they got two stars from me).
To Alex, the owner: do better, for your customers and especially for your employees.
