4 /5 R More: The Kalispell "Wetlands" is a really unique spot, tucked in the middle of nowhere. They have a nice little casino and an RV resort. I haven’t stayed in the cottages yet, but I plan to this summer.
I have eaten at the restaurant several times over the years. The food is good—not amazing, but definitely better than just going to the bar. They could easily offer a few standout meals at reasonable prices. Over the years, I’ve tried their Indian Taco, which was unique, as well as their burgers (solid, standard burgers) and a Reuben. The fries are decent, salads are well done, and the service is pretty good. The restaurant itself is very clean and comfortable.
My main thought is that they could push the menu a bit more. There’s been very little change since they opened. Perhaps a monthly special or some upgraded dishes could really elevate the dining experience. I think they have the potential to do better—after all, the food at Northern Quest Casino on the West Plains is really good.
Interestingly, when they owned the corner restaurant in Usk, some of those dishes were better than what they serve at the casino. If business allows, I’d love to see them reopen the corner restaurant, even if only for breakfast and lunch.
