4 /5 Waytruthlife: This seems like a precious group of people. It is awesome how they have a growth class before the service and also meet at night and on Wednesday nights. I wish they were more consistent with live streaming their Sunday evening services because there are hardly any churches in the NW that have an evening service anymore. I dont think they livestream their Wednesday evening services either and again, hardly any churches in the area have Wednesday evening services.
It is also awesome how the pastor interacts with the people on the Sunday evening services by asking for testimonies. The only issue is often we cant hear what they are saying because he doesnt bring a mic to them or allow them to come up front. We would also love to be a part of the growth class. Many people are homebound and arent able to drive to a building and shouldnt be prevented from experiencing fellowship and growth.
There is a pastor who they call "brother" Johnny that preaches from his heart and it is obvious he is walking out his salvation as the Bible commands. He has wisdom that the main pastor doesnt seem to have because Johnny has gone through some severely painful trials. The main pastor seems to speak from his intellect rather than his heart and rarely gets vulnerable enough to share his pain. In fact, he appears to be quite angry which perhaps is hindering him from being authentic like Johnny.
The main issue I have with this church and other Baptist churches is the labels they place on women and men which are sexist and not scriptural. They refer to the men as "brother" so and so and the women are labeled as "Mrs.or Miss." This sends the message that only the men are Gods children but not the women. They refuse to call women "sisters" and when questioned, they all say it is a Baptist tradition. Since when are we told to live by human traditions rather than following the Bible? Does the Bible refer to Jesus as "brother Jesus or "brother" Paul or "brother" Peter? No, so why do these Baptist churches continue a sexist, demeaning towards women, human tradition? It feels extremely cultish, yet the pastors seem too afraid to actually follow the Bible if it goes against the older Baptist pastors who are dictating the human traditions.
The pastor of this church appears to be following the mandates of the older pastor from Woodin Valley and doesnt seem interested in actually adhering to scripture. This is how churches become cults when they follow human, denominational traditions rather than the leading of the Holy Spirit.
Please stop calling the men "brother" and refusing to acknowledge the women as "sisters." This is beyond hurtful to Gods daughters.
