2 /5 Yue Su: 5 stars as a place to buy used kid clothes.
1 star as a place to sell your used clothes. its not worth the time. details below. everything you see in the photos was rejected with no reason given.
they have become extremely picky about what they buy, and it is difficult to predict what they will or will not take. i dropped off an entire bin (30-40 items, see photo) of the best condition clothes i had, most of which were rarely or never worn. they took only 5 pieces out of the entire lot, for a total of $8.40 in store credit.
worse, they recently adopted a 1-bin per day rule, so in order to find out how many pieces out of my 5 boxes of clothes they will take, requires a minimum of 5 days of daily trips. because it can take them a few hours or until the next day to sort through your stuff and buy the few items they want, you cant use your credit on the same trip as dropoff and have to make a return visit. they do not provide precise estimates of how long you might have to wait; could be an hour, could be 24 hours. this makes it difficult to plan ahead and make efficient trips.
it cost me a minimum of 4 hours and 60 miles worth of fuel to get $8.40 of store credit, which at $5 a gallon means i did all this work and lost *way* more than i gained. this included:
spent 2 hours sorting old clothes and choosing the best ones, because i know they are picky. except you dont know what they are looking for, and they dont tell you why they reject something, so youre basically blind guessing.
spent more time stacking things the way they want (single layer single stack) because if you dont, theyll make you do it in the store.
2 trips, one hour roundtrip in the morning to drop off, then another one hour roundtrip in the afternoon to spend my hard-earned $8.40, as well as pick up my full bin of rejected clothes.
to be clear, i do not care if they are picky. i also do not care that they only pay pennies on the dollar for my items. i understand the business model and i am happy to get any positive value for my old clothes. but the way they operate now, i am getting negative value and will no longer sell anything to them. and if i am not selling anything, i have no reason to go to the store, because there are other stores closer to me i can buy from instead.
free business consulting: if they offered appointments where they could guarantee that i can use my credit in one trip instead of two, or if they were more transparent about what they will take so i dont waste my time dropping off stuff they dont want, or if they could take all my boxes in one go so i dont have to keep going back [even if it takes 2 weeks to sort through], or best case if they could come to my house to look through my stuff and make me an offer on the spot, that would make me use this store again. otherwise, im out.
