1 /5 Chris Jordan: Poorly Managed Store, but One Bright Spot
As someone who has worked in retail management for several years, I was genuinely disappointed by my recent visit to the PacSun at the Tacoma Mall. From the moment I walked in, the store lacked organization, energy, and leadership. The atmosphere felt unstructured, merchandise wasn’t well maintained, and there was little to no engagement from most of the staff.
What stood out, however, was one manager who was clearly doing his best to keep things running. He was the only one actively assisting customers, managing the floor, and showing the kind of professionalism and initiative a retail store desperately needs. It was apparent that he had the knowledge and work ethic to lead, but unfortunately seemed to be working without much support from his team.
After a brief conversation, I learned who the actual store manager was, and it was immediately clear that this individual was not the right fit for the role. There was a noticeable lack of leadership and accountability coming from the top something any experienced retail professional can recognize right away.
This location has potential, but without proper management and a motivated team, it will continue to underperform. It’s a shame to see a brand like PacSun represented so poorly at this store.
