4 /5 Sharyn Inzunza: If a diner could be Grandmas house...
Clarettes, on this snowy day, was "shed your coat and come on in" inviting.
Not super busy. The host showed us to our table in the dining room "extension," like a closed in porch.
In the main dining room (where the grown-ups gathered)—a patchwork of floral wallpapers and framed pictures create an on-brand cozy feel.
Tapestry upholstered seat backs in our booth (like my Nans couch).
Service was slow to kick in. Asked the host, passing by, if she could help us out. This was a bummer and not so welcoming.
Benedict. Great hashbrowns—crispy outside, fluffy inside. Poached eggs—cooked whites (thanks, Gran), velvety yolks.
Ended up with a drink trio: diner coffee, mimosa(s), water (love the fluted retro glass).
Second visit. Will give it another go (love how close it is to The Finch Hotel).
