5 /5 Kit Chovanak: We were visiting Stevenson for a few days and tried several restaurants, many of which were a bit underwhelming. One evening we got takeout from El Rio: seafood enchiladas, chicken enchiladas, and some chips and salsa. Everything was delicious, and the portions were generous. It was exactly what we were hoping for.
Here is the bad part. When I arrived, I waited a couple of minutes to be acknowledged. The bartender finally noticed me and asked how she could help. I said I wanted to place a to-go order. She nodded, then went back to making a long series of drinks. Fair enough, since the customers already seated should be served. After a couple more minutes she handed me a menu, which took only a moment, then went back to mixing drinks, running them out to tables, taking other orders, and going into the kitchen.
Meanwhile, I was standing at the bar waiting. My order would have taken only a few seconds to take, but it ended up being about 10 to 15 minutes before another staff member, who I think may have been the owner, finally came over and took it. It was a strange experience, and I honestly felt invisible. I almost walked out, but my wife was really looking forward to the seafood enchiladas, so I stuck it out.
Still, the food was excellent. Five stars for that.
