4 /5 MatĂas GarzĂłn: Motion church received a lot of love and also a some hate. Here is as close to an unbiased, honest review as I can give.
Pastor: People are very polarized relating to Roger, the lead pastor. He is very charismatic and confident, but it can often come off as arrogance. Honestly, I do think that he struggles with pride, but no Christian is perfect and in multiple sermons that Ive watched he has said something prideful, immediately realized it, then given the glory to God and humbled himself. Also, some people feel like the church is centered too much around him, and that main service is sort of the Roger show. While it may appear that Roger, as some reviews put it, isnt a good Christian example, it is important to realize that you are only seeing him for an hour a week and you dont see the work he puts in. I know for a fact that every time he goes out to eat, by the end of the meal he has prayed for, invited to church, and sometimes even led the server to Jesus. His interactions with others truly exemplify the life Christ lived.
Worship: When I first came to motion, I wasnt a huge fan of what I saw as loud and flashy worship. I didnt know a lot of the songs as I was used to more traditional hymns. However, it grew on me quickly. It definitely isnt for everyone and the volume can be too high sometimes, but there are earbuds next to each door if it is too loud for you. I have come to really enjoy the musical style as they usually start with one or two hype, upbeat songs, then shift to a deeper, slower paced song or two.
Youth: Having attended motion youth for around 3 1/2 years and main service for 2 1/2 years, to young people I would 100% recommend youth group. The atmosphere is fantastic with a separate high school and junior high group. I think that Jake the youth pastor does a fabulous job preaching and occasionally we will have an intern or 4-5 students preach at a service. I have seen so many young people be saved at this youth group, and I think that it fits the audience very well. I am out of words now, but overall great church for most people.
