Wiley Slough - Mount Vernon (WA)

5 /5 F Tu: On a sunny weekday, we practically had the entire area to ourselves. The variety of birds of prey was incredible, making it a truly wonderful and memorable experience.

4 /5 Becca Johnston: Stopped by here while I was in the area since I saw other reviews saying it was good for birding. I didnt agree on that front. Didnt see nearly as many birds as I wouldve expected for a sunny mid afternoon. Mainly sparrows and wrens, but also saw one heron. It is however a great place to run or jog. The trail is super long and has some side paths that go into the marshy areas. Dogs are allowed and the walking path is really wide so theres plenty of space to separate from other groups. I also saw some bikers but wasnt sure if that was specifically allowed (didnt see a sign).

5 /5 Heather A: Update: Just visited after the extended closure. The elevated walking area creates a gap between you and the nature. The logs and plants used to be right at your feet. And the gravel ramp on the one side is super steep for anyone with any mobility issues, also, there is less brush and the trail is gone near the boat launch. Great views, nice walking trail, clean. Expected a bit more for the long closure. Sadly, the beautiful red Rose Hips pictured have all been removed...

3 /5 Bridget Mulcahy: A peaceful area must have a discovery pass to go. It’s easily March and was not very many birds out but I think I went there to early. The trail is long and some bird viewing station. Dog friendly

5 /5 Howie Silver: Wiley Slough is a nice nature walk along a wetland. There are always a lot of birders there photographing the various birds who hang out there.
