Gates Foundation Discovery Center - Seattle A Ben (Halfmexicanallfiesta): Great staff and fun exhibits make this a fun visit for families or individuals. My partner and I visited when they had the toilet exhibit. The staff was knowledgeable about what was happening and we found they were passionate about teaching what they knew as well. Linda esp seemed to be having a good time at the water testing game. Did I mention its free?
Charles Richey Sr Viewpoint - Seattle Michael Carlile: Cold & windy at the end of April,but nice views and free easy parking adjacent to the beach, which is a mix of stone and sand.Seals whales and river otters among other wildlife to be seen. Too cold for us to wait and watch but would love to see them all.
Lake Union Park - Seattle Wandering Hart: **Scenic Escape in the Heart of the City**
Lake Union is a fantastic Seattle destination for anyone who loves outdoor activities with a mix of urban charm. The area offers plenty of convenient parking, including free parking on Sundays and holidays—a major perk in the city.
Summer is the perfect time to visit, whether youre looking for a great running route along the water or just want to relax and watch seaplanes take off and sailboats glide across the lake. While kayaking is available, the water stays calm and peaceful, making it ideal for beginners or a leisurely paddle.
When you need a break, stop by the Starbucks or the cafe inside MOHAI for a refreshing drink or snack. Between the beautiful views and the laid-back atmosphere, South Lake Union is a must-visit spot for both locals and visitors. Highly recommend spending an afternoon here to enjoy the best of Seattles outdoor scene.
Seattle Art Museum - Seattle Kelly Lee: A pretty nice museum with a mix of cultural exhibits, including contemporary, Greek, African, and Asian pieces. While the variety is interesting, the overall collection feels limited—I wish the exhibits were more extensive. The café is a pleasant spot to relax. Parking is $10 on weekends with validation.
Occidental Square - Seattle Yer Vang: Great landmarks to visit if you want a day of exploration. We only visited a few places of pioneer square, but it was worth the sightseeing. Around the outskirts of Pioneer Square was lots of homelessness, so be careful out there.
Museum of History & Industry (MOHAI) - Seattle Kevin Luo: Iconic museum located in a scenic setting. Great place to learn every little detail about Seattle. Upon entering, I was immediately blown away by the massive main hall and the size of the artifacts and artworks being exhibited. The museum hosts an amazing collection of artifacts, methodically presented in a manner sure to captivate the visitor. I love the detail the museum put into their presentations, especially regarding the impact Seattle has globally through its industry and entrepreneurship. I really enjoyed the experience, save for the fact that parking is limited and not free.
Seattle Pinball Museum - Seattle Grace: It really interesting place to visit! They have a huge collection of pinball machines, ranging from vintage classics to more modern ones. It’s not just a museum where you look at things—you actually get to play the machines, which makes it a lot of fun.
One of the great things is that they limit how many people can enter at a time. That means you don’t have to wait too long for machines, and it doesn’t feel too crowded. It helps keep the atmosphere relaxed and enjoyable.
Overall, it was a unique and memorable experience—perfect for anyone who enjoys arcade games or just wants to try something a little different in Seattle.
Statue of Liberty Plaza - Seattle - Joshua Fagan: The reason that there is a Statue of Liberty here is a tribute to New York city, which was the original namesake of the first settlement in what is now Seattle, New York Alki. It is a small but important statue commemorating the early history of Seattle and particularly West Seattle, where the Denny party first landed. I think understanding that is important: its not just that they wanted a mini Statue of Liberty here as a tourist attraction. Having spent my college years in New York, I found something very pleasantly nostalgic about seeing this replica of the Statue of Liberty here looking out over the rippling waves crashing against the song gray beach.
