District Fabric - Port Townsend (WA)

5 /5 Kathryn Cameron: A wonderful gem of a store that I wasnt expecting to see in a smaller town on vacation. Theres a beautiful variety of high quality fabrics. I was very excited to see some absolutely gorgeous silks here. The customer service was absolutely delightful, and the whole shop is honestly the cutest.

A fraction of the size of the usual craft store megamarts, it has a superb and diverse selection of apparel fabrics: linen, silk, wool, cotton, rayon, tencel, & twill, crepe, knit, chiffon, & natural as well as unnatural fibers. A fine range of colors, textures, patterns-- the selections clearly curated by individuals deeply into garment sewing. And their prices are good: often better than what one finds online. So, I see three bad reviews here for District Fabrics, and each complains about a lack of quilting fabric. Who are these monomaniac quilters? Must every fabric store be a dedicated quilting fabric store, with bolt after bolt of dizzying colors and patterns of just a single plain weave 45" cotton textile? Theres a dedicated quilting fabric store seven miles down the road, in Kala Point, another in Kingston, more in Silverdale and Bainbridge. But stores for garment sewing are hard to find; so many went under in the 90s and 2000s with the rise of "fast fashion." Hooray for District Fabrics!

5 /5 Christina Oliver: Beautiful selection of fabrics and very knowledgeable! I like stopping here when I am in the mood to make myself some clothing and I purchased this beautiful blue cotton/tweed for refurbishing some chairs! I especially love some of the seasonal patterns for when I make pillows to match the holidays! (I get so many compliments on my Halloween pillows!)

5 /5 Karen Forbes: I have shopped with them in Fremont and am so happy they are now in Port Townsend. I love this fabric shop. Beautiful fabrics for reasonable prices. I can always find something that makes me drool. So wonderful to have fabrics for garment making available here again.

5 /5 G G: I visited this shop for the first time last week and had a wonderful experience. They have a nice selection on Indie patterns (including Named) and were very helpful in explaining which fabrics would be best for the pattern I chose. Its a small shop, so while they may not have everything, all the fabrics are carefully curated. All my questions were answered and I walked out of the shop with some gorgeous fabric at a very fair price. This will definitely be my go to store for all of my sewing projects.
