3 /5 B D: I’m sharing this as honest, constructive feedback because I want to see Nana’s Southern Kitchen succeed.
On my most recent visit, I ordered the oxtail stew. The portion size felt small for the price, and I also remember it previously coming with cornbread (I could be mistaken). I also ordered a Kool-Aid for $3. Since Kool-Aid is a relatively inexpensive mix, I expected a larger size for the price.
The oxtail stew leaned more sweet than savory, which made it less enjoyable for me. I noticed hints of red wine and bay leaf, though I did bite into a bay leaf while eating. I think reducing the sweetness and focusing more on a savory balance could really improve the dish.
Hospitality is an important part of Southern food culture, and a warmer greeting could go a long way. I respect the work Nana’s does for the community and I’m open to returning—and willing to update my score if I have a better experience.
