3 /5 Cynthia: I’ve visited Railroad Pizza a few times, and the food is generally what you’d expect from a wood-fired pizza spot—sometimes great, sometimes a bit burnt or light on toppings. It can also feel a little pricey for what you get.
Most recently, I ordered the chicken pesto sandwich with tomato soup. The sandwich was okay but dry and needed more pesto, sauce, or cheese. The tomato soup unfortunately missed the mark; it lacked flavor and tasted off, and I regretted not choosing a different side.
What really needs improvement is the service. While staff greet you when you enter and leave, the actual table service is inconsistent. During my visit, no one checked in on me or asked how the meal was. A large group (around 15 people) also struggled to get the server’s attention, and several guests ended up leaving because they couldn’t even get their check. It seemed like the staff were overwhelmed, understaffed, or not fully trained to handle busy tables.
I don’t think this is a bad restaurant—there’s potential here, and the local support is strong. But better training, more attentive service, and improved consistency in both food and staffing would make a big difference. I hope the owners take this as constructive feedback, because with a few changes, this place could be truly great.
