5 /5 Wyatt R: Please read this review. Worth the read!
To start off, I have a mechanic background, I went to Motorcycle Mechanics Institute, I was also a M1A1 tank mechanic in the Marines for 12yrs. I work on all my own vehicles..airplane, trucks, Motorcycles.
I had a P0306 misfire code on my 2009 Tahoe, I replaced all the all the components spark, plug, coil, injectors and still couldnt get rid of the miss fire. After a lot of research online it seems the Tahoe is notorious for lifter issues. I get a lifter kit, spend days taking apart the engine and replacing the lifters all for nothing, I still have the p0306. At this point I was ready to toss the Tahoe and just get a new truck, but the Tahoe is mint, im not ready to give up on it. I start researching replacing the engine.
I RANDOMLY call Bremerton Transmission & Automotive to ask about sourcing a engine. "Mike" answers the phone.
My savior Mike answers the phone. I explain to him what Im dealing with, what I have done, my research etc.. and instead of the TYPICAL "bring it in we will check it out and charge the hell out of you" MIKE says "do you have 10min? im gonna explain some stuff, and have you try a couple things first."
No shop ever asks if you have 10min to explain ideas to fix something and gives you hints and directions. Well hell yea I have 10min or longer Im desperate to fix this.
So my savior Mike, knew that I knew the fundamentals of the Active Fuel Management system. But I did not know the science with it. Mike with total respect, talked me through everything, He had me check my rockers under my vale cover again. But suggested based on his experience and knowledge that a full blown fuel injection cleaning was needed with special equipment. Which these trucks with AFM need every 36k miles which I did not know. So after a couple long phone calls and all I felt confident in my conversation with Mike that after all my time money and failed attempts, it was best to take my Tahoe to Bremerton Transmission & Automotive.
Mikes shop was available, unlike some local shops that had huge wait times. Mike and his awesome team did the fuel injection service and also identified a coolant leak from improper tightening of the head bolts (my fault, I was trying to guess on the torque wrench degrees of turn because I didnt have enough room to move the torque wrench 90⁰ and 70⁰ for the 2nd and 3rd pass).
My Truck is SAVED!!! All thanks to a random call to Mikes shop Bremerton Transmission & Automotive!!! He gave me confidence and solved my issue! When I was ready to give up and get a new engine or truck. Moving forward any issues with my Tahoes or future trucks I will take to him.
Its so relieving finding a shop you can trust and solve your problem. Honestly the fact he was patient, extremely friendly and took a lot of time on the phone with me is what moved me to hire his services.
The only other shop I have had this much trust and faith in is Iron Mikes Automotive in Covington WA.
Thank you Mike and your team, all of you have customer service and integrity above reproach. I can not express more how much you saved me a lot of stress. My only regret is I didnt find your shop sooner!
