5 /5 Cynthia Scott: This monument was erected in 1992 in honor of Captain George Vancouver of the British Navy who did a 4 & 1/2 year voyage (1791-1795) of the Pacific Northwest with this reviews emphasis on the beautiful Columbia River area which took place in the year of 1792.
Unfortunately I did not get a photo of the life size bronze statue of Captain George Vancouver himself which is located on the north side of City Hall, but I will be back in the area again very soon so I will be sure to add that update to this review.
I found it interesting that Captain George Vancouver also discovered 3 very loved mountains here in the Pacific Northwest: Mt. Rainier, Mt. Saint Helens, and Mt Hood.
The entire Vancouver Waterfront Columbia River area is absolutely breathtaking and is rich in history. There is so much to see. If you have not been here, you are in for a treat!
