My car died and had to be jumped prior to taking the ferry from Victoria back to Port Angeles. What wasnt apparent at first was that my car wasnt accelerating when pressing down on the gas pedal. It wasnt until I arrived back at Port Angeles that I realized that my car had essentially gone into full limp mode - throttling was completely dead and the fastest I could go was whatever neutral speed happened to be on the road I was on. Since it was late and no auto shops were open, we had to limp the car to a nearby motel for the night instead of driving home.
We were fortunate enough to have stayed close to DoctorAuto, and we limped the car to the shop first thing in the morning. Not only did they get right to scanning the ECU and attempting simple resets, but when that failed, they promptly took me in despite their busy schedules and brought my car in for a deeper inspection. They very quickly identified a blown fuse (likely resulting from the battery initially dying), and was quick to replace it with a working one to re-establish signal between the gas pedal and the throttle sensor. To them, it was such an easy fix and a rather common problem.
What made DoctorAuto GREAT in my opinion was not so much them identifying the issue. I expected as much from an auto repair shop. But they were willing to get down to work the moment I walked through the door. They didnt pressure me into getting this done or that done...I walked in, told them the problem, and they just got to it. When the repairs were complete, they didnt even ring me up! Either this issue was stupidly simple, or they sensed the distress I was in from the previous night having to limp the car around (maybe it was both). But instead, all they did was wish me well and sent me home, and advised I get my old battery replaced when I make it back. We evenoffered to pay for the labor, but they just brushed it off with all smiles! This level is service is unheard of in all my years of driving a car, but the warmth shown by staff was what made them stand out. We need more DoctorAutos in the world!
