Upon arriving for a scheduled appointment, the front desk staff made the patient so uncomfortable that the patient walked out.
The receptionist lacks training and legal knowledge. She claimed a spouse needs a medical POA to help assist with answering any medical history information.
Pt. informed the office via paperwork that they suffer from cognitive and developmental delays, that having his partner there for medical advocacy was necessary. This is where this office violated ada laws!
Not only did the office deplete a disabled individuals social and emotional battery, they chased him away without being seen.
Would absolutely NOT recommend this clinic if you are disabled and require any advocacy. This office will speak out of turn, cut you off, and tell you to come back with a notarized document that ISNT state required.

HIPAA does not apply if a domestic partner is only providing medical history or other relevant information to a healthcare provider and not requesting any protected health information (PHI) about the patient.
HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulates how healthcare providers disclose patient health information, not how they receive it. A support person, such as a domestic partner, can share medical history, symptoms, or other details without needing special authorization. However, if they also want to receive health information or discuss the patients care with the provider, HIPAA rules would then apply, requiring patient consent.
Under the ADA Title III, healthcare providers (including dental offices) must make reasonable modifications in policies, practices, and procedures to accommodate individuals with disabilities.
Denying a support person’s assistance without a valid reason (such as a legal restriction) may be considered a failure to provide reasonable accommodation.
I WILL be filing a formal complaint to the Washington state human rights commission.
Your office has cameras, the encounter is documented, and this can not be ignored.
Woodland Dental Center - Puyallup Larry Childs: This was my first visit to Woodland Dental. I was warmly received and welcomed as a new patient by the receptionist. It’s a very inviting and professional environment. I was highly impressed by my hygienist Libby. She was very friendly, explained everything, and very thorough in her work. After not having a dental checkup for far too long I expected a “lecture” about flossing, etc. That didn’t happen and she was extremely kind and positive about what I had been doing with great suggestions on how to improve my oral health. Dr. Louie was very efficient and positive, and again exuded a friendly, positive experience. I’m actually looking forward to my next checkup and cleaning in six months.
Thank you Woodland Dental staff for making this rather enjoyable.

Dove Family Dentistry - Puyallup Rubye D: I was so blessed that as a teen/young adult, I had an amazingly knowledgeable & skilled dentist who kept up with scientific advances - not just about teeth, but as the health of the mouth affects the entire body. I was deeply grieved when he passed away (at over 80). That office felt like family & when he was gone, I was adrift.
I’ve tried several offices & dentist since then. Though others were certainly competent, I never felt truly at home with any of them.
I am overjoyed to report that I’ve found another of that amazing caliber (and maybe even a bit more fun)! I’ve been with Dove Family Dentistry for several years now and I have nothing but praise for every single member of the staff that has served me!
Their workmanship is second to none! I was enormously pleased when I visited a dental specialist (specializing in sleep) & he admitted the work completed in this office was so well done that it wasn’t easy for him to spot!
They’ve given me choices but always taken my decision without trying to “upsell” ANYTHING!! I was truly “sold” when Dr. VanTramp assured me that (expensive) procedures that two other (independent) dentists had told me would be required to save several of my front teeth would NOT be necessary!
Lately I’ve had to finally accept a couple of crowns (eeek!) but found that in their gentle, efficient and knowledgeable hands, it was really NO BIG DEAL!!
Honestly, if you appreciate fun & happy people working with excellence, I don’t believe you can do better than visit Dr. VanTramp and his tremendous staff!
Puyallup Park Dental - Puyallup Loren J Erickson: There must be better dentists around here. I have been a patient here for over 2 years. When I first began coming here the service and treatment was fine. I was encouraged enough that I even decided to do the Invisalign treatment. However things quickly went downhill. There are multiple dentists and assistants that work here and I dont remember their names, so I will refer to them only by the service they offered. The dentist that runs the Invisalign program constantly harped on compliance with the program. It made me feel like a lab rat. She clearly cares more about retaining her preferred provider status with the vendor than what her patients are going through. I got in trouble for not taking pictures of my teeth in their app. When working on my teeth as a dentist her chair-side care was entirely lacking. On one occasion it felt like she was trying to rip my cheek in two while injecting the numbing drug. Rarely did any of the dentists use enough of that at first to completely deaden the treatment area. Other treatment in the chair was borderline abusive. I have had my lip stuck with the numbing needle not once, but twice, in the same sitting. I have had to swallow debris and had the rinse jet shot down my throat on multiple occasions. More than once I have been in the chair for 5 hours or more, and eventually had to start giving them a timeline to get work done. They dont plan ahead and arent very careful in the chair. No expectations were ever set about how long I would be in the chair on any visit. The Invisalign treatment was interrupted because scans couldnt be taken for the long-term retainers due to cavities and crowns that had to be repaired and replaced. These should have been identified before the Invisalign treatment had begun, and yes, they were bad enough there should have been some evidence of those problems back then. Lately there has been no communication about Invisalign trays or retainers being ready. No phone calls, no voice mails, no text messages, no emails, nothing. I am currently waiting, and have been waiting for over 2 months, for news of my permanent retainers being ready. Yes, I could call them. They probably have them sitting forgotten in a drawer somewhere, just like they have forgotten about me. But Im waiting to see how long it takes them to figure out that Im still waiting. And if my teeth shift back to their crooked state while theyre trying to figure that out, then...well...Ill be seeking reimbursement of my part of the $5000 I spent for that service. Regardless of how that plays out they will not be touching my teeth again. Do yourself a favor and find somewhere that can do same-day crowns. That alone delayed the completion of my invisalign treatment by almost a month (and counting).

One of the front desk administrators, Amanda was so professional and efficient. She sent two appointment reminders before the date came and when we arrived she was the one at the front desk to check us in. My son even liked his dentist, Dr Rodriguez. He said they gave him a lot of information that he had no knowledge of.

Puyallup Summit Dental Center - Puyallup Jesenia Lemus: Staff is always welcoming front desk girls are great !!! doctor gets right to it fast going on to my second year with them I would say it seems like he is always in a rush and I like to connect more with my dentist as I always have other then that it’s not a bad dentist they get you right in and out. He is good at what he does and well expierenced.
