5 /5 Linda Panattoni: I have been to 7 offices seeing about implants/dentures. Yes I was shocked by price. No one took Dental insurance. Today I went to see Dr. BUTTA. I AM SO Happy I did. Not only does he take my insurance, he was the first Dr. to be honest with me. All the others wanted to pull all my teeth in my mouth, I have a few implants as it is, I was told by all the other DR. They didnt use the type I had in my mouth so those had to go too. DR.BUTTA was sending to find out what implants I had so I could keep them. He also Told me I had teeth that needed fillings and did not have to be pulled. Best part instead of a get it done in one day treatment plan, my treatment plan was broken down, it used my existing insurance so I knew what my out of pocket cost would be, and I didnt have to have it done all at once. What a relief, AN HONEST CARING DENTIST AND STAFF. Maria his front desk, assistant, etc was so wonderful and polite. After prior experience with other offices, Dr. BUTTA AND STAFF gave me hope. I am forever grateful to them. Cant wait to get my smile back. Linda P.

5 /5 John Silberhorn: I usually don’t do reviews, but in this case I believe it is important to pass on my experience with Skagit Dental Design because I was so impressed with Dr. Buttar and his dental assistants, Marie and Alexis. I moved to Washington not too long ago and still had not found a dentist yet. Unfortunately, I had a severe toothache so now I had to find a dentist. So I googled dentists in Burlington and Skagit Dental Design popped up. I read the reviews and liked what I read. I called and they got me right in that day. Dr. Buttar is very caring, soft spoken dentist who cares deeply about his patient. What a rare commodity. Thank you!!

Pnwtails _: This is probably the worst dentist I have ever had the displeasure of being a patient at. I will start my review by saying that their phone systems are a nightmare. They always seem to be having troubles and there’s always some sort of excuse as to why they couldn’t reach you. You can barely get ahold of them. The prices at this office are ludicrously expensive. The dentist himself needs to learn a little humility and humanity. Every time I come in, it leaves me feeling more uneasy than anything. The worst of it is the filling they did on a tooth of mine. It was a rather large filling to begin with but he ended up doing it wrong. They ended up leaving decay in the tooth that has inevitably caused the tooth to rot from within. I refuse to come back into this office and have them fix it. I am now having to fly to and from Nevada to see my old dentist while I search for a better, more trustworthy dentist in the Mount Vernon region. It is wasting so much of my time and it takes forever to get there. This never would have been an issue if the dentist had done the job right the first time. I will never trust Sunrise Dental again.

Karen Gimnig Nemiah: After two procedures with Dr Bal, I changed doctors. As best I can tell, he is skilled surgically and he cares about his patients. I was willing to overlook his arrogance and the sterile feel of his office until a procedure failed and everything changed. I have no way to know whether Dr Bal made an error or whether I was just unlucky - every doctor has some bad outcomes. My problem was that once the bad outcome occurred, Dr Bal became defensive and unpleasant. When I asked him why the bad outcome had occurred, he said "I dont know. Thats up to you to figure out." When I complained that his post op instructions (lasting more than 2 weeks - for a recovery that he had told me would be 3-5 days) were impacting other elements of my health, he told me he didnt care about any of that, he was only interested in the part of my mouth he was working on. I could go on, but the point is that for me, skill and caring were not enough because when I needed it most Dr Bal appeared to be caught in a shame storm and prevented him from having an intelligent conversation. I hate to think what would have happened if I have blamed him, yelled at him, or been oppositional. All I did was ask him rational questions and push him for answers and he did all he could to shut me down. I didnt fully appreciate how much difference empathy and care make until I found an office that has them. I felt so much safer and calmer with a doctor who noticed my discomfort and took steps to reduce it. If you need a periodontic procedure, its not going to be fun, but it doesnt have to be cold and arrogant. My wish is for Dr Bal to grow his interpersonal skills. If he could build compassion, empathy, warmth and curiosity to the level of his surgical skill, he would be an ideal doctor. Sadly, this seems unlikely to happen. If "bedside manner" is at all important to you, or you prefer not to take the chance of a bad outcome being made worse by arrogant defensiveness, go somewhere else.
