1 /5 PracticalWisdom: If I could give zero stars, I would.
My experience at the Bellevue Square Free People was disappointing on every level — and unfortunately, not for the first time.
I walked in, made eye contact with an employee at the register, smiled — and she frowned at me without a word. A few minutes later, I watched her greet other customers cheerfully. Then, while exiting the fitting rooms, I overheard a staff member say “ew, she dresses like a substitute teacher.” I was the only person in the store not dressed like a teenage workout apparel ad, so the comment was clearly aimed at me.
I’ve also experienced racial profiling in this store — followed while browsing, while young white shoppers were left alone. Judging from other reviews, I’m not the only one. The staff behavior here is consistently rude, cliquey, and judgmental.
And the store itself? Filthy. Dust everywhere, neglected fitting rooms, and clothing on the racks that feels used or mishandled. For a brand charging $150 for polyester, this is embarrassing.
Free People’s Washington State locations seriously need some TLC — both in how they train staff and how they maintain their stores. Clean your space. Train your employees. Do better.
