Manuel Garcia Rae has been cutting my hair for a while now. She’s only continued to get better with time. My most recent cut not only looked good, but I had an all around great experience. She’s very attentive and always asking questions to make sure you get the best cut. She rinsed and shampooed my hair, I received a soothing hot towel and then style. She’s easy to talk to, so conversation is nice. I highly recommend making an appointment and stopping by.

Luci spent time getting to know my hair and my needs and checked in with me multiple times during the cut to ensure it was to my liking. Ren Green I have gone to JD for about 3 (almost 4) years now ever since I moved to Seattle. They’re an unbelievably skilled and creative hairdresser! Their artistic eye is incredible, and the salon space is beautiful with its antique golden mirrors, velvet furniture, and the plethora of plants and oddities lining the walls. I’ve loved every haircut and color I’ve gotten from them, and they’ve transformed my hair many times from my virgin long brown hair to long dark green hair to my now short black two block haircut. Would highly recommend you go to JD for any hair needs, but especially if you want a badass gender-affirming cut :) the other stylists are lovely as well and equally as skilled and talented! So happy this salon exists — it’s full of friendly inclusive people

Tonia Bartz After decades of living with pencil straight hair that was easy for me to maintain, medical treatments caused the texture of my hair to change to extremely dry + wavy, a complete 180. I tried for a year to figure it out myself, but I needed help, + a stylist that understood not only wavy hair, but the emotions + stress that come from dealing with a medically-induced change. Luci is that human. She’s supportive, honest, candid + open to discussion on what I want as well as how I will actually take care of my hair on a day to day basis. Her aura is calming, delightful + safe. There have definitely been moments where I’ve unexpectedly broken down + gotten nothing but support + even a time out in the middle of an appointment for me to reset + breathe. I’m not one that’s used to (or wants to) spend hours everyday on my hair using a whole army of products + rituals. And Luci respects that, helping me fine a way to make these new lovely locks work for me. I cannot recommend this salon + Luci enough. They are inclusive, accepting, welcoming + extremely knowledgeable.

Quinn R I’m very protective over my hair, and I hadn’t had it cut in a very long time, and I couldn’t have found a better salon or stylist than Jazz! I have medium thickness slightly wavy hair, for reference. She gave wonderful recommendations and advice for how to care for both the cut and my hair, as well as really listening to what I wanted and altering my cut to fit what I imagined exactly. This is the most heard I have ever felt at a salon. Consent is highly valued here. The cut Jazz created was absolutely masterful as well, this long shag is incredibly easy to style and looks amazing every way I look at it. She helped problem solve with me when we ran into a cowlick I forgot I had, stopped and listened when I didn’t love how the curl pattern made me feel and experimented until I adored it. I walked out feeling SO hot. My girlfriend said I even carry myself with more confidence. If you’re looking for a change, I couldn’t recommend Jazz more. On a person to person level, thats also just one earnest, kind, and intentional person. She is a joy to talk with while in the chair. TLDR; Jazz is a great person and stylist, my transformation cut was a big leap I couldn’t be happier with. My hair suits me, is more hydrated, and so much easier to take care of because I visited Starling. I’ll be a regular from now on!

I always ended up with lighter roots that didn’t cover my gray hair, but Tiffany gets it right every time! I also have fine hair, and she is the master of knowing how to cut it to maximize volume. Jennifer Martins Ive been getting my hair cut and colored by Tiffany for a few years now. She is a great listener and implements what you request in a way that will work with your hair type. She has great tips and ideas for styling and product suggestions to help specific concerns. I have fine hair that gets weighed down easily, Tiffany manages to achieve body and style that other stylists havent. The shop setup is very relaxing without the usual noise and bustle experienced in salons.

Valerie Gwyneth Kristina cut and styled my hair last week, and I absolutely love her work. It’s the best haircut I’ve ever gotten! Right from the start, she asked thoughtful and professional questions about what I liked and didn’t like about my hair, which no one had ever done before, and I really appreciated that level of care. She not only listened but also delivered exactly what I wanted. For example, I told her I liked my length but didn’t like how heavy it felt when tied up. She skillfully maintained the length while layering it beautifully, making it feel lighter while still looking full. Beyond the cut, she also provided helpful advice on hair care, recommending products and sharing styling tips. Overall, it was a fantastic experience. Aubrey Remedy I did one of the "shine and hydrate plant infusion" treatments after my hair color and three people said they "loved my highlights," which I didnt get! My hair was super shiny, as if I had done a gloss, for about 3 weeks. Highly recommend if you are wanting some extra pop in a way that adds health to your hair. Kince does such a great job and always works to improve his service offerings. My hair is so healthy since coming to see him.

Jessa MW Kince is a master of his craft! Ive been going to him for a year now and he is extremely knowledgeable about hair care and cutting & styling techniques. I have very thick hair and he perfectly adapts the reference pictures I bring him into something I can maintain and style at home. As a bonus, Kince is really kind and funny, so youll have a very relaxing and enjoyable time while he cuts your hair.

I always get my hair colored so Im there for several hours, but the time flies because we have the best conversations...and this is coming from someone who can be a bit of an introvert and hates small talk. I could keep going on about how wonderful she is. One final addition...parking is very very easy.

L P Yikes, Jen is rude. Was so ready to love this place based on how close it is to home and how many glowing reviews I had seen! But I was running a few minutes late due to an accident on 99. Tried to call to be courteous, no answer. Ended up sliding in the door 9 minutes late and she cut off my apology and said she was waiting and about to cancel the appointment. Did she try to call or even text? No. Yes I was late but what was I supposed to do if they dont answer the phone and dont call to check with the client? I tried. I felt so unwelcome I wasnt comfortable staying and letting her touch my hair after all that. I left and wont be back.

You can really tell that all of the stylists LOVE their clients and what they do. rainier hair studio has the most welcoming vibe. My son has always hated getting haircuts, but he will go to any stylist at rainier hair studio because he says he feels like they understand him. Customer for life.

Emily Lomeli We (my almost 3 year old and I) saw Megan this morning. It was such a great experience and my kiddo got the best haircut he has ever had. Previously we have visited a kids salon in West Seattle but were never happy with the experience or haircut. Megan provided a great experience - she’s calm, patient, and friendly, plus the haircut is SO cute! My kiddo loved the toys she offered to play with during the cut and the snacks. Abby Strand I’ve been coming here for a couple of years now, specifically seeing Desiree. Every once in a while I come to her with these projects of completely transforming my hair, and every time she delivers. From copper red, to pink, to blonde. Not thinking it was possible to top the last color. And I’m a low-maintenance girly, so I’m not as good about coming in as often as I should. With that being said, even months after first dying it I’m still getting compliments from stranger. I can’t recommend this place enough! Go see Desiree Cassandra, she’s fantastic at her craft!

Tahlia Edgar-Chalker The salon itself was beautiful, and Jedediah was very friendly. However, my experience was less than ideal. I had booked a haircut, but it was clear that he had overbooked himself. I was asked to arrive 15 minutes late, and when I got there, another client was still in the chair. I waited another 10 minutes or so, and when it was finally my turn, Jedediah listened to what I wanted but didn’t ask many follow-up questions about the style. He washed my hair, but before finishing the cut, another client arrived for her appointment. He then asked me to wait while he started her color, leaving me sitting with wet hair and a half-finished haircut for about 15 minutes. Once he returned, he rushed through the rest of the cut, and when he began blow-drying my hair, another client showed up to wait. At this point, there were three clients waiting on one stylist. The blowout was rushed and didn’t look great, and the layers in my hair were choppy and not at all what I had asked for. In the end, he offered the cut for free as an apology, which I appreciated. While Jedediah was kind and polite, it was clear that he had overbooked himself and was unable to give me the attention I needed.

Sarah Gold Came in to get my hair colored pink with a shadow root after growing my hair for years after finally mustering up the courage. Left with uneven bleaching and roots so bad I cant even find the words to describe them. Im thankful my hair didnt fall out but this has been a traumatic experience and I dont intend to ever go back. ~700 bucks wasted and the stylist didnt say a peep to me and let me leave like this with no follow up plan and didnt even acknowledge it. I now have to go find someone to fix my roots. Master cuts could have given me a better experience than this. I didnt deserve this kind of treatment.

Kyle Cassidy Yvey Salon is the real deal! I highly recommend them for a beard trim. I was staying on Capitol Hill for a work trip with time to kill so I stopped in to get my beard shaped up. We have great beard barbers where I live in SE Portland so I wasnt sure what to expect. Adrian did a fantastic job. Both he and Yvey provided feedback, asked great questions and were committed to getting it just right. They are skilled, friendly craftsmen who took pride in their work. Kirsten Chapman Ive been seeing Astrid for almost a year now and cant see myself seeing anyone else anymore. Shes so friendly, kind and great with conversation & if you feel like not talking she is cool with that as well. I show her a picture of what I want and shes able to recreate it exactly how I want. Every color shes done on me is beautiful. Not only is she an amazing colorist but she really pays attention to the health of your hair. If a color isnt reasonable to get to in one visit or wouldnt be healthy for your hair, shell let you know. She also has great recommendations for products that would be perfect for your own hair. Astrid is really easy to schedule with online & has great hours. Its always such a treat getting my hair done now. ALSO My 10yr old son has a huge fro and the only person we trust to maintain it is Jeremy. He’s very professional and listens to what my kiddo wants. Not only does he do a great job shaping his hair and lining things up but he is very knowledgeable of the products he should start using or continue using. The salon is always clean and inviting, not to mention such an amazing location! We recommend anyone and everyone to Jeremy and Yvey Salon!

Michael Cataldo An odd and uncomfortable experience. After coming on the insistence of a friend, Yvey dismissed our initial thoughts stating that he was a “sculptor” and showed us some reference photos instead. The haircut turned out like neither, choppy and uneven. I think he may have sensed I wasn’t enthusiastic about the work, insisting it was the best for my “head and face shape” and I needed to “grow it out”. Not the worst haircut I’ve ever received, but certainly not worth the hype or price tag.

But Minh, he took very good care of my hair. This is one of my favorite hair colors ever. Anh Nguyen Minh is an experienced colorist that pays close attention to your hair integrity. He takes his time with your hair condition and does not rush no matter how long it takes. I had a complex hair history of bleached, damaged, black, red then brown haircolor so bleaching service is the only way to get the unwanted pigments out of my hair without cutting it. I wanted blonde balayage but after bleaching my hair twice, Minh’s honest suggestion was to dye it dark blonde for even color results. I was pleasantly surprised by the results. Great pick of color that suits my skintone and helps brighten my complexion. 100% would recommend him if you are looking for a great colorist specializing in dark Asian hair.

Grace Lê I went to Minh for my hair couple days ago for the first time and must say I’m impressed. As an Asian myself it’s hard to find a hairstyle who is good at bleaching and he did a perfect job in bleaching and coloring and fixing my hair cause I had uneven bleach all over my hair. I let him custom my color and I love it, everyone also loves my hair, it has different shade under different lighting. Definitely recommend Minh and will come back soon. Also, he’s super friendly and very accommodating, he showed up at 7:30 in the morning to do my hair cause I was in a rush. 10/10

tran bre I needed to get my hair done after letting it grow out for 5 months and was referred to Minh by a friend. My hair is naturally level 1 black, coarse and lots of damage from being blonde for a long time. Minh was honest with me and told me that my hair was damaged and he was going to take his time bleaching my hair to prevent further damage. He really took his time with my hair (8 hours) and gave me a keratin treatment after everything. My hair has never looked healthier and I just love the results. He gave me everything that I asked for! Global blonde with shadow root. I usually do an icey blonde but I wanted to go a little warmer. I’m so happy I found my new hairstylist.

Harrington Thom (Duck9000) Grace is a low keyed experienced hair cutter. She listens to customer input and then executes outstanding results. Grace has been doing my hair for about 10 years, and I have never gotten a bad cut. I have gotten a great shampoo that is a fabulous scalp massage every time Ive gotten a cut.

Michael Lamont Sarah and Taylor are the absolute best. When you meet them, they become the friends you wished you have always had. They are so dedicated to their craft and absolutely shows. Their products and salon are amazing and you will leave feeling like the queen/king that you are or always wanted to be. 10/10 recommend.

Julianna Lucciano I cycled through a lot of stylists when I moved to Seattle trying to find someone who “gets” my hair, and eventually (finally!) found Alexander Scott - I’ve been going to Alexander for a two years now and I love that I can trust him to guide me on color and cut. I get so many compliments on my hair from people wanting to know where I go, and I’m always happy to point them to Alexander. I’ll bring in a handful of inspo photos and ask how he’d apply the general vibe to my hair, and he always comes up with something amazing that works well for my hair goals, and explain how he gets there. He also gently guides me away from ideas that might not have been the best from me, and suggested alternatives, which I so appreciate. I don’t spend a lot of time styling my hair and don’t want to have to get touch ups every few weeks, and the color technique Alexander does allows me to go a few months between appointments. I really appreciate how he knows my hair goals and does my hair in a way that works with my lifestyle and the time (or lack or) I have for daily maintenance / styling. Ashley Warren Alexander Scott is beyond phenomenal! Ive never met anyone who thinks of color the way he does, and it translates into all of his clients perfectly styled and colored hair. He listens and understands your goals while offering suggestions for what he thinks will best suit you. When it came time for me to transition from covering to blending my grey hair, I knew Alexander would know exactly what to do. I love that I feel confident having my grey hair growing in while adding color to best frame my face with the growth. Maintenance is easy and grows out beautifully. If you are looking for a stylist, he is the one!

E K I have been seeing Alexander Scott for nearly 5 years, and my hair has never been better! My hair is quite fragile and has always been a nuisance that I’ve never managed to tame despite using high-end hair products and low maintenance heat styles to protect my hair. I’ll never forget the first time I saw Alexander, he conducted a thorough consultation in person (a follow-up to his initial virtual email consultation—super helpful!!) and immediately identified my hair being coated in minerals and plastic buildup, a side effect from years of using hair care with that in the ingredients. This alone indicated to me I was working with a master and it laid the groundwork for the beautiful color and cut services. Alexander is a master at his work and I highly recommend him, especially to anyone seeking dimensional hair colors like balayage or even fashion colors. It’s been so fun being able to try so many styles all with the same stylist and Alexander excels at these soft beautiful styles, as well as more edgy styles. He is very transparent about pricing and I appreciate how customized his approach feels for each client. Look no further if you’re ready for the best hair you didn’t even know you could attain!

janna bingham Crystal is amazing! She took on the task of doing my tape in extensions (after other salons had failed me, genuine horror stories) and in under a week I’m back to having beautiful long locks. Application was quick but SO well done, and the salon a pleasure to be in. Tape-ins are comfortably placed and she made the whole experience 10/10 in every possible way. If you want encouragement instead of arrogance you’ve come to the right salon - I genuinely would recommend Crystal to anyone looking for a new stylist.

Elizabeth Crystal is an absolute gem, and I’m so grateful to be her client! She does an incredible job coloring and styling my thick, textured hair, always getting the color just right and using the best products that leave my hair healthier, looking and feeling amazing. Kari Toyama I dont write a lot of reviews, but I just love this place. I have been trying to find the right salon for a few years and I think this is the one Ill stick with for a long-while. The products, the front desk staff, and of course the stylists are just incredible. At my first appointment, Althya asked me about my hair routine and current issues I was having (even though I was there to get a color treatment) and actually came up with a plan to treat my dry scalp. And for the first time in SO many years, it actually worked! I also highly recommend Althya for any hair painting - shes just fantastic.

Marina Semez Ive been going to this salon for almost 10 years and have always had a great experience. Everyone who works here seems genuinely happy to be there, and the space is very clean. They make you feel fancy with a warm towel and tea while you wait for you appointment. +1 for Cori Kellys hair chopping skills.

Dorian Long The atmosphere at coupe rokei was amazing! I felt so taken care of and supported during my entire appointment. (And I applaud all their efforts and precautions to keep both the customers and staff safe during Covid.) I came in not knowing what I wanted to do with my hair, but Collin was great in helping me figure out exactly what I wanted and much more. It’s clear the stylists love what they do, and do an amazing job of sharing that passion. 10/10 will be back :)

Grace Cheney I had a fabulous experience at Coupe Rokei! A very chic, clean, relaxing atmosphere, and a friendly, helpful staff. I initially went in to get my hair styled a certain way, but after a little consultation, my stylist Odie Lewis had me convinced that I would be happier with something else. She was super honest with me, and had a lot of good information about helpful hair tips and things I can do for my ultra-fine-no-volume hair! I really, really appreciated it! The cut she gave me is the best cut Ive ever had, and Im only sad I didnt go in sooner! Odie was so cute and fun to chat with and an obviously very talented stylist. My experience was pretty pricey, ( > $250 with product) but I felt pampered and attended-to, which is always important to me in a salon, (especially at that price) and again, the cut was so great! I loved my experience at Coupe Rokei and cant wait to go back in for a touch-up!

Melissa Ann Wow! I went for a cut and balayage last Friday and I can say I was more than impressed. Lenny is not just very thorough and talented, hes extremely kind. We started off with a consultation which I didnt expect but really appreciated. Lenny truly cares about listening to your needs and giving you the best experience possible. The studio is also very personal which is great for introverts like myself. The best way to describe my experience is this; going over to your best friends house while they do your hair and youre laughing, watching the best movie on Netflix and forget youre even getting your hair done because youre having too good of a time. See Lenny if you not only want a good haircut/ color but also if you want to meet a genuine person that cares about helping you out!

satish jonnala Up on my friends reference, I made an appointment with Lenny for consultation and a followup Brazilian keratin treatment. His knowledge of hair basing on the texture is amazing. I have a very dry and curly hair. He patiently listened to my requirements and suggested how it can be done. Im more than happy with the final result. He knows his craft very well. He very careful and thoughtful while giving me the treatment and haircut. Cant thank him enough. If you have special needs like my hair, please go visit him and thank me later.

Alexander Stone I have been to Salon McQueen monthly since 2018 and I am always impressed! I had been switching between salons in frustration for a few years, unable to get any consistency with short haircuts, until a friend referred me to the salon. The cut is impressive every time, and the attention to detail shows. The facility is easy to access, input is received very well, scheduling is easy, and I always feel comfortable while Im there. If you value the look of your hair, then definitely get scheduled!

Racheal Ward I just got my hair cut with Lenny for the first time and I was super impressed by his knowledge of curly hair and his willingness to share his expertise. He did a great job giving me the exact haircut I came in for- it seriously looks just like my reference picture. I also appreciate how careful his is about things like checking if youre ok with head massage, asking before touching your phone, etc. Overall a great experience!
