4 /5 Lopa: We visited John Howie Steak in Bellevue to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and overall it was a lovely experience. The ambience, service, and overall vibe were excellent. Our server was attentive and professional throughout the evening.
The appetizers were delicious. I especially enjoyed the prawn cocktail and the deviled eggs—both were flavorful and well prepared. I ordered a gin and tonic, which initially came out very strong, but the staff promptly replaced it with a milder one without any hesitation, which I truly appreciated.
The only downside of our evening was the main course. I ordered the Jidori chicken, and unfortunately, it was overcooked and heavily drenched in butter, to the point where the butter completely overpowered all other flavors. The chicken was placed on a cutlet that seemed burnt, leaving a bitter aftertaste, which made the dish quite disappointing.
Everything else was wonderful, but because of the main course, I’m giving this place 4 stars instead of 5.
