1 /5 Linda Kelley: Dr. "L" is the rudest doctor I have ever had the misfortune to encounter!
I am a three-time cancer survivor, my mother died of cancer, and her mother died of cancer as well. Those of us who are survivors or who have lost someone to cancer know how it changes the way we look at our health.
I have been a patient - off and on - at Northwest Medical Specialties for the past 30 years - first with Hodgkins Disease, and then with breast cancer. My doctor during that time, Dr. Robert McCroskey, was the most kind and caring doctor Ive ever known! I feel so fortunate to have been under his care during some of the most difficult and scary times in my life.
Dr. McCroskey retired a few years ago so, when I scheduled an appointment recently, I knew it would be with a different doctor. Again, as a survivor I am concerned when I see changes in my bloodwork so, when the results of my most recent lab work ordered by my PCP came back, I was concerned.
When Dr. Lavanya Sundararajan (Dr. "L") entered the room, one of the first things she said to me was she was confused as to why I was there. I explained that I was concerned about the recent lab results and hoped she would go over them with me. Instead of looking at the results, she began explaining to me how my Hodgkins Disease had been such a long time ago that it was no longer an issue for concern. Again, I tried to explain about the lab work but she then told me that I didnt need to worry about my breast cancer returning for the same reason. I told her that I wasnt concerned about my previous cancers but it was because of my history of cancer and the questions on my current lab results that brought me in. Again, I asked her to look at the lab results. She quickly took them from me, and just as quickly, looked through them, saying they were normal. She at no time explained anything about why some numbers were low or high. She didnt ask me if I have had any symptoms, and didnt bother to conduct any line of questioning in regards to my health.
Dr. L spent about five minutes in the room and in those five minutes she managed to be rude, disrespectful, and humiliating. On her bio page it states... " The deep bond that the oncologist shares with his or her patients and their families is a very moving and rewarding experience for Dr. Sundararajan."
That was far from my experience.
On Northwest Medical Specialties "Patients Rights" page it states:
"As a patient, you have a right to:
Receive considerate and respectful care under all circumstances."
Again, that was far from my experience.
