St Johns Episcopal Church - Olympia Kathleen: Im not a religious person, but we were invited by a neighbor who is the musical director of this church to watch a show, The Lute Legends Collective. This group is comprised of three musicians from different cultures each playing the version of the lute that came about in each culture. The three performers were Chinese, Palestinian, and Canadian, and they not only played, but they also shared information enjoy the history of how a common instrument, the lute, evolved in each country. They had played at Benny Royal Hall the night before, so this was indeed a unique opportunity to see this caliber of performance in our community. The church is also progressive and welcoming to all, which is in line with my morals and values. This made it comfortable to participate, knowing everyone is equally valued and welcome.
